Capital Design

Translating breakthrough research into visual credibility
Capital Design emerged from Dr. Jordan Ostapchuk’s doctoral research at the Institute of Design, exploring how design capabilities influence institutional investment decisions. The challenge was to transform this complex academic framework into a clear, credible identity that would resonate with both the design community and institutional investors.
The new identity needed to communicate intellectual rigor while establishing the professional trust expected in trillion-dollar investment environments.
Making research tangible
In collaboration with Murmur Ring, we worked to translate the conceptual framework of Capital Design into a cohesive visual system. The approach centered on developing three primary elements: a core logo for the Capital Design brand, a set of eight capability icons, and a connectivity graphic showing how these capabilities intersect within investment decision-making.
Each visual element was crafted to balance sophistication with clarity, presenting design as both a strategic and analytical discipline. The result was a visual identity that could move fluidly between academic and institutional contexts — from research papers to investor presentations.

Design from the inside out.
A visual identity that makes complex research accessible
The final system brings Capital Design’s research to life through a unified, professional visual language. The work helps position Dr. Ostapchuk as a thought leader and establishes Capital Design as a credible bridge between academia and the institutional investment world.
